YesPress Features the Story Behind Altia Smart City’s Nearshore Launch Platform

On August 26, 2026, YesPress published an in-depth feature on Altia Smart City, exploring how what began as an ambitious business campus in Honduras evolved into a platform designed to help global companies establish and operate in the country.

Titled “How Altia Smart City Turned an Unfinished Office Park Into a 60–90 Day Launchpad for Global Companies,” the article looks beyond Altia’s towers and physical infrastructure.

Instead, it focuses on a bigger idea: what does a company really need when entering a new country?

The YesPress feature explores how Altia Smart City responded to that question by bringing together office infrastructure, power and connectivity, recruitment, legal support, security and daily operational services within one ecosystem. Today, Altia reports supporting more than 30 client companies and more than 8,000 people working across tenant operations in San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa.

For those who know Altia Smart City today, the article offers a deeper look at how that model developed and why reducing the complexity of entering Honduras became such an important part of the platform.

We invite you to continue reading to discover some of the ideas explored by YesPress and to visit the full feature for the complete story of Altia Smart City.

From an Unfinished Campus to a New Business Model

When Altia Smart City was founded in 2008, Honduras was not yet an obvious destination for international BPO, ITO and business-service operations.

The challenge extended far beyond developing office buildings.

Companies entering a new market needed reliable telecommunications, backup power, security, recruitment, legal support, facilities management and access to people with the skills required to operate.

As YesPress explains, simply providing infrastructure was not enough.

Altia Smart City began bringing those different requirements together.

Instead of asking companies to coordinate multiple vendors before opening their doors, the platform developed a model where many of those services could be accessed through one ecosystem.

That decision ultimately became one of the defining characteristics of Altia Smart City.

Building Around the Launch

One of the strongest ideas in the YesPress feature is that Altia Smart City is not simply selling office space.

It is helping companies manage what happens between deciding to enter Honduras and becoming operational.

A traditional office lease provides a physical location. Altia Smart City combines that space with services such as redundant telecommunications, backup energy and water systems, controlled access, recruitment support, legal assistance, maintenance and 24/7 operational support.

For an international company entering a new country, every one of those elements can represent another provider, another process and another potential delay.

Bringing them together changes the nature of the offer.

As YesPress describes it, the value lies in reducing the number of handoffs a company has to manage before its operation can begin.

This approach supports Altia Smart City’s marketed 60–90 day path to launch for companies establishing operations in Honduras.

When Infrastructure Alone Was Not Enough

The YesPress feature also looks back at Altia Smart City’s early challenges.

The original assumption was that strong infrastructure would naturally attract companies.

Reality proved more complicated.

Honduras still had to build credibility as a location for BPO and ITO operations. Companies needed confidence in the market, while many potential employees were only beginning to become familiar with these industries.

Instead of waiting for the ecosystem to develop on its own, Altia began helping create the conditions around it.

Relationships with universities and training initiatives strengthened access to talent. Recruitment and legal services became part of the platform. Free-zone advantages created additional opportunities for eligible companies, while investments in infrastructure and business continuity helped international operators feel more confident establishing operations in Honduras.

What began as a real estate project was becoming something broader.

Talent as Part of the Infrastructure

The YesPress story also highlights an important part of Altia Smart City’s growth: talent.

Large global operations need more than available office space. They need a workforce that can grow alongside them.

Altia Smart City’s campuses are positioned near residential areas, transportation routes and universities. Its San Pedro Sula ecosystem provides access to several higher education institutions, while its Tegucigalpa location sits next to UNITEC.

That proximity helps connect education, employment and professional development.

YesPress also highlights the Finishing School Program, which has helped young Hondurans strengthen their English and professional skills before entering the BPO industry.

By late 2025, more than 350 young Hondurans had transitioned into call center and BPO positions through the program, with more than 11 employers participating.

The result is a model where the talent pipeline becomes part of the broader infrastructure companies can access when entering the market.

The Companies Become the Proof

Infrastructure can make a promise.

The companies that continue operating and expanding within an ecosystem show what that promise looks like in practice.

YesPress points to operators such as Alorica, IntouchCX, APL Logistics, Charger Logistics, GBM, itel, KM2 Solutions, Relay Human Cloud and Startek as part of the broader business environment connected to Altia Smart City.

The article also highlights companies that have expanded after establishing operations in Honduras.

KM2 Solutions, for example, began with one floor and developed into a multi-tower presence over its years in the country.

itel provides another example. Development of its San Pedro Sula operation began in August 2021, and the center opened that November with more than 250 bilingual team members already hired.

These examples help illustrate the larger idea explored throughout the YesPress feature: the value of the ecosystem becomes clearest when companies are able to launch, operate and continue growing within it.

The Lesson Behind the Altia Model

Perhaps one of the most interesting parts of the YesPress article is that the lesson is not simply to build another business park.

The lesson is to understand everything that has to happen before a customer can succeed.

For companies entering a new country, delays often happen between different processes: the lease, floor design, connectivity, legal setup, recruitment, infrastructure and operational support.

Altia Smart City developed its model by bringing many of those dependencies closer together.

YesPress describes this as identifying the bottlenecks surrounding a customer’s first successful day and finding ways to reduce them.

That idea has helped Altia Smart City evolve from a physical development into a nearshore platform built around speed, continuity and operational readiness.

The recent YesPress feature offers a deeper look at Altia Smart City, its beginnings in Honduras and the decisions that shaped its evolution.

It is a story about infrastructure, but also about what companies need beyond infrastructure.

It explores the importance of talent, business continuity, operational support and the ability to coordinate the many pieces involved in launching successfully in a new market.

For Altia Smart City, the feature is an opportunity to look back at how an unfinished business campus grew into an ecosystem supporting more than 30 companies and thousands of people across two cities in Honduras.

The physical towers remain one of the most visible parts of Altia Smart City.

But, as the YesPress feature shows, much of the platform’s value lies in everything companies no longer have to build or coordinate on their own.

We invite you to read the full YesPress feature, “How Altia Smart City Turned an Unfinished Office Park Into a 60–90 Day Launchpad for Global Companies,” to discover the complete story behind Altia Smart City’s evolution and the model helping global companies establish and grow their operations in Honduras.
